Teraco’s latest project, JB7, offers part of the solution.
As part of Digital Realty, Teraco – A Digital Realty Company is expanding its Isando Campus in #Johannesburg with a new hyperscale data center.
Here are five strategic insights into this transformative development:
--> Expanding Capacity at Isando
JB7 will deliver 40MW of critical power load, increasing the Isando Campus’s total capacity to 110MW. Set for completion in 2026, this facility will strengthen Teraco’s role as a leader in African digital infrastructure.
--> 8 Billion Rand Financing for Growth
This project is supported by an 8 Billion Rand syndicated loan ($443 million), which will also fund Teraco’s renewable energy initiatives, including a 120MW solar PV plant. These investments align with Teraco’s ESG goals.
--> Addressing Cloud and Enterprise Demand
As #South Africa becomes a central hub for cloud services in sub-Saharan Africa, JB7 will meet the growing needs of enterprises and cloud providers, boosting Teraco’s total capacity to 228MW across campuses.
--> Sustainability at Its Core
JB7 features cutting-edge cooling systems, including a closed-loop chilled water system and direct free-air cooling. These innovations will deliver industry-leading Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) and Water Usage Effectiveness (WUE).
--> Enhanced Interconnection
With access to over 250 network providers through Platform Teraco, JB7 will enhance Africa’s most interconnected data center ecosystem, driving greater regional and global connectivity.
Teraco’s JB7 isn’t just about capacity.
It’s about shaping the future of digital infrastructure in Africa through innovation and sustainability.
